Creating pot stools in Construction
02 March 2022

Northern Adelaide Senior College VET students in Construction are hands-on in carpentry this week making pot stools.

The task teaches students how to read basic instructions, measurement, notching and assembly.

“It’s a hands-on task and it beats sitting at a desk all day,” says Bayden S., a student hoping to achieve an electrician apprenticeship on completion of his Certificate II.

“I can do something that I enjoy, and I’d say to anyone who is interested that the easiest and best way to get into the industry is to apply through VET at school.

“It’s cheap and it gives you a Certificate 2 in Construction. You can get your white card through it, and you could possibly be employed by the end of it.”

Fellow students, Liam K., Toby C. and Domenic P. expressed similar sentiments.

“I’ve always had an interest in carpentry. I hope to eventually work in the housing industry” says Toby.

“I’m just in it to get a job at the end and start earning money,” laughs Liam.
