Bex Johnson, a Flinders University Education Pathways Representative, spoke to Northern Adelaide Senior College SACE Completers about entering Flinders University and what to expect of student life last Wednesday.
“My advice is to really do your research and choose whether university is really right for you, because we all offer something different,” says Bex.
“Research about where you want to spend the next few years of your life (because it’s a big chunk of your life), and where you really want to enjoy that chapter. Find out where it’s best for you.”
Her visit coincides with SATAC 2021 applications opening next Monday and South Australian university open days happening in August.
“I want to get across that you are so much more than your ATAR,” says Bex.
“I know that lots of you have worked really hard for your grades but it’s only one of the ways to get into uni, there’s so many other options.”
Flinders university offers ten different pathways into university and that Flinders degrees offer flexibility whether you want to study part- or full-time, take a year off for travel or work, or learn completely online.
“Of course it gives you the opportunity to invest in your future because once you have university study under your belt, you have so many doors open for you, so many opportunities,” says Bex.
“If you can see yourself in a particular job in the future, university is where you need to go to get there.”
Flinders University will host Virtual Open Days from the 10th-15th August 2020.
