Northern Adelaide Senior College (NASC) celebrated Orientation day by welcoming their new student cohort to NASC for 2020 last Friday.
Led by students of the Student Organising Committee and split into two sessions, new students were shown the school campus and introduced to their teachers and staff.
“Orientation Day is a great chance for students to learn about the school and its community as they embark on their studies here at NASC,” says Adrienne Gorringe, Wellbeing Counsellor and Leadership teacher.
Rowie L., 2019 President of the Student Organising Committee, agrees.
“I like NASC because it’s flexible and everyone has a different expectation on what they want from school.
“We’re different from Open Access and other schools, so I hope their [2020 students] expectations are met here.”
“I think it’s a nice school,” says Nikita H, a new enrollee who was introduced to NASC from a family friend.
“It’s good. It’s big. Lots of stairs,” jokes Brandon B., a new student hoping to improve his ATAR for marine biology at Deakin.
This year, NASC implemented their popular Coaching Young People for Success program as a part of Orientation to teach students how to identify goals and succeed in their studies here at NASC.
“I thought it was really good. I heard that this was a new process and I thought they handled it really well,” says Alexcia M, a new student hoping to complete her SACE and enter into a neuroscience degree.
“It was smoother and more engaged,” says Rowie.
“We had many of our older students putting their hand up for helping on the day which was great to see.”
Brandon is looking forward to 2020 here at NASC.
“I just want to get better grades and a bit more maturity before uni and this [NASC] was a good way to get a slight head start and understand how it all works before actually going into the deep end.”
Northern Adelaide Senior College is still accepting 2020 enrolments. If you’d like to know more about what NASC can offer, please call (08) 7285 1600.
