NASC SACE Completers stellar A+titude
Sam Ghamrawi has a message – “The only A+ you actually need in your life. Attitude.”
Last Wednesday, Northern Adelaide Senior College 2020 SACE Completers welcomed Sam from SEKSEED to discuss how to succeed in their final year at NASC.
“I want you to grow. I want you to succeed. It’s my purpose, it’s my passion to watch you reach your potential and live an awesome life,” says Sam, founder of SEKSEED.
SEKSEED workshops have been teaching students across the state that just because we fail at something, doesn’t make us a failure and if we’re not afraid of failure, how differently would we approach life?
“The problem with comfort is that you cannot learn and grow and stay comfortable. It is impossible,” says Sam.
“So if your mission or your purpose is to learn and to grow then you must understand, you need to get comfortable being uncomfortable.
“Don’t be afraid of making mistakes. The quicker and faster you can make mistakes, the faster you can move forward.
“But most of us spend 95% of our time worrying about things and 5% of our time avoiding them.
“Wherein instead, if we spent 5% worrying about it and 95% of the time doing something – taking that one step and failing – you’re still that one step forward aren’t you? That’s the key.”
Students heard stories about Sam’s humble beginnings – from a class clown to a weed-smoking uni student with anger issues – and how he turned that all around to become the success he is today.
He puts it all down to one lesson – “It’s your attitude, not your aptitude, that will determine your altitude.”
“He was just very motivating. He was also really funny and grabs your attention,” says Sheree B., a NASC 2020 SACE Completer.
Her main takeaway from the workshop was to ask what she was willing to do to change her life (or in this case – achieve her SACE).
“You have to improve yourself before you can be productive. To choose to get things done.”
“He was pretty much telling us to be confident in yourself and ask questions and that’s what I’m trying to do,” smiles Sheree.
