There is perhaps no bigger transitional period than the move to further education, especially for our Northern Adelaide Senior College students.
Last Tuesday, several of our SACE Completers students attended a walking tour of Flinders University in the lead up to SATAC enrolment submissions and virtual university open days.
“Choosing a career or whether we go to uni or TAFE, that’s all on us,” says Mohammad K., a NASC student who went on the excursion.
“It was a fun experience. We learnt about the uni lifestyle and that the school results are not the end of everything. You get a fresh start at uni.”
Shehzad A., a fellow friend and student at NASC agrees.
“It was a good experience. We went there and we saw the environment, we got an idea of how the education system works in universities, and we found how broad it is compared to studies at high school,” says Shehzad.
“I liked everything about Flinders except the distance which is the only limitation. Other than that I liked everything. The environment, the location, the facilities, everything.
“For me I will definitely go to uni.”
Ashley Fraser, SACE Completers Case Manager, says that university tours are important for NASC students who are undecided on their next steps past senior secondary education.
“It gives them exposure to universities and the opportunity to understand how they work, the services that are available, the different things that courses can offer and all the fun events that are on at uni,” says Ashley.
“There are many staff who are able to assist with uni and career pathway information including myself, Ben Dening, Adrienne Gorringe and Mary Hodson,” says Ashley.
To students who would like to know their options post-NASC, please talk to Ashley in H308 to find out how Northern Adelaide Senior College can help.
